This is complete nonsense. Ive never been or lived in china, and im not sure of their customs or anything, but im pretty familiar with my american ways. But the way i look at it this is something for the PARENTS to decide. Not the government. And wow is the governemnt going to moderate this? Its not like they're going to come into every hose, check for an mmo, and arrest the prents if they dont have the device/software or whaever. But they might. Again, complete utter bull on china's part.

If this became world wide, the world would be more of a prison than it already is.

Oh yes your born in the world, that wasnt naturally made by humans, but guess what, now you must do everything your told in the rules. Its like being a damn robot, poor chinese children, oh you can choose what game now but sooner or later there gonna make new rules.

No PVP for people under 18, killing people real or virtual is mind killing.

No killing of anything for people under 13 -_-

No beer in games, promotes illegal drinking -_-

Are they highly educated?
They kill female children at birth.
They killed/kill their own people through starving and oppression.
They TORTURE they own people for the crime of having a different opinion.

Highly educated? If that is so, then ignorance TRULLY is a bliss!

On the other hand China needs workers to produce something and not have any thought other than what the state tells them. That’s like reading in a China newspaper about how there is a world wide food shortage and now everyone must suffer and be rationed because of it. When in fact we have lots of food in the free world.

Have you not heard of Thesis, antithesis, and synthesis? The quickest route to political change?

1) The thesis is an intellectual proposition, such as children dying in china due to video games. It’s important to note that the Thesis does not have to exist in reality only to exist in the minds of people who believe it. For example "Global Warming" but that can be another discussion.

2) The antithesis is simply the negation of the thesis. Such as more regulation or opposition to video game playing. Playing video games for 3 hours instead of 4 or 5 hours will reduce your child’s chance of suicide (real or imagined). Your goal of course is step number 3.

3) The synthesis solves the conflict between the thesis and antithesis by reconciling their common truths, and forming a new proposition. For example more control over the computer dialogue in china and more laws governing who is saying what to who in Chinese chat rooms. Register your real name (has nothing to do with the thesis but creates a control factor) for the protection of the children for a safer "State" for all of China.

Honestly you need to question what you read in the newspapers more often.

Yes exactly despite the facts that fewer accidents occur with fireworks then handling a pet cat we can see the net results. The net result being more government control and regulation and less “fireworks” in the hands of "Free" American people. Since the fireworks example was given lets take a look at other "Laws" that are a result of fireworks now banned. Since that incident all chemicals (gun powder even though gun powder is not used in fireworks much) used in the manufacture of fireworks are now regulated and you have another form of Taxation in the forms of "fines" that give money to the "State".

It’s all about control whether its real or imagined.

People like you scare me. I do not exist for my government my government exists for me.
China's internet is already controlled. Or close enough, to being "policed" in for far as the world has seen. Very strict and it doesn't surprise me that many of the Chinese government try to bring out a lot of media propaganda through there sources towards the western world. Even our own government do, so much it always hurts.Fox News anyone? Biggest amount of crap that can come to TV. Australia's media is a train wreck also with lots of current affair issues that try to make a federal government problem, which should be personal or state at best. The labour party who are mostly ex-unionist's always and always say the same thing over again. Its always about working jobs, working family's. Its kind of funny to see all of the people believing in the current affairs, but believing wouldn't be the word to use. I like to use mind-controlled.

But you are right. I, for one think the media really needs to pick up its game or separate from all the bullshit about other people who have no influence in the current world. I would like to go into "Global warming" but its off-topic and I just say its the new "religion" of the current world.

To be honest, I'd care if I were under 18, but this new rule is crap.. How many gamers actually die from exhaustion from too many hours played in a day?

Only the idiotic ones..

Seriously, China has too many issues to take care of.. what a waste of time/effort

Let me get this straight Anet nerfs Guild Wars, China nerfs Anet!!!! Cool! Way to go China! ROFLMAO!! That'll teach em for nerfing soul reaping LoL

Seriously though. China may well be a communist state but can anyone deny that China has made changes in the past decade or 2? Compare todays China with the China of 20-30 years ago its like looking at 2 different countries. That is IMO an example of progress. Yet here in the UK we have a government that introduces Human Rights Laws but is now trying to get them revoked because those same laws have been used to stop their own policies, that IMO is a case of regression. Are there still States within the US that ban the teaching of Darwinism? Do we still see race crimes committed by law enforcement officials cropping up from time to time? It is still legal (although extremely rare) for US law enforment officials to kidnap people in foreign countries to stand trial in the US, directly circumventing extradition treaties and the law of those foreign countries, and yet be immune to extradition for the crimes they commit in those foreign countries. Before we harp on about conditions in China ffs lets get our own houses in order, and leave the Chinese to sort their own problems out, which they seem to be doing slowly but surely.

u forgot to say chinese burocrats eat children for breakfast and that china is most responsible for global warming. (when infact carbon emission for each american is more than twice the emission for each chinese).
Having been to beijing i did not see this "cruel oppression" u're talkin about...
"chinese love their children too ".(aka "russians love their children too")

How about comparing today's China to the China centuries ago?

China back then was an imperial nation with rich culture and economy (dynasties, colonies who pay "taxes" to chinese imperial govn't, the Great Wall, Confucius etc). It's the imperialists (British via Opium wars) and commies (Chairman Mao) who made China miserable today.

I'll be the first to admit that Britain has screwed over many countries, in that respect Britain has a great deal to be ashamed about. Kinda makes me glad I am officially considered to be a subversive by my own government for being part of a movement who's aim was Independance for England (20 years ago btw). And now we see legitimate campaigns (minor ones admittedley) to achieve the same thing, but I'm still considered subversive while the N00Bz aren't.

ScorpiusX

P.S. btw 20 years ago I was 13 and yet I'm still considered subversive, teach me to stay loyal to my political views.

Do they have forced military enrollment? I figure that would work too..maybe a military prep school for those <18. dunno.

Ya... y'know what? If my mom ended up with a kid today to raise, that kid would be different than the whiny brats running around. Know why? She'd beat his ass. You can't do that these days, but she would. And if the police came? They'd get a potspoon to the ass too. One time I told her I was going to call the police, after seeing a show on TV where an abused kid really did call the police on his parents. She handed me the phone and told me to call an ambulance too.

Kids today don't have any fear... well, not any real fear. I guess they're afraid their hair doesn't stand up just so, or they won't get card #147 of the Pokemon collection. And for every idiot kid, there's ten grown up morons who feel sorry for them, four of which will champion their right to pitch a fit in a mall because mom didn't buy them the UltraMegaRobotron or whatever.

So yeah, with Big Heart Betty and Bob the closet-pedo Social Worker looking over your shoulder, of course it's harder to raise kids today. You can't even yell at them. The one thing parents can do? Is control the amount of TV and Video Game time their kids have. Betty and Bob have even designed software to help you do that. But you know what? The sad fact is a surprisingly large number of parents don't. Or they won't make the time. Or they think it's harmless. Or Oprah is on, and today is Tom Cruise day!!!

So in steps the Chinese government. Not just for this reason, but for the other reasons that have been mentioned as well. And because it's China, and only for that reason, I applaud them. I would fight this thing here in America, mostly because we are not communist, and I hold that dear, but buddy... we do need help as a nation. I don't blame China for not wanting a whole new slew of terms for problem kids.

Is there ADD in China? Probably not. Kids over there are too scared to let their attention slip, too disciplined. Emos? Nope. Hell, back in my day an emo was a kid whose kitten died, and he got over it in a week. Chinese Goths? I sure hope not. I mean these people walk around wishing they were vampires and all the normal people say is, "Oh... look, a goth." WTH? Has abnormalcy become so common? Next we'll be like, "Oh... look, a man with a mask and a gun walking into the bank. Is Tom on Oprah today?"

I better stop before I start squashing someone's creativity. Go China! I hope you save yourselves.

Edge

P.S. Please send back some of our jobs.

I can't believe some of the garbage I’m still reading on this forum. The whole point to what China is doing is to prevent another form of free speech. This has nothing to do with kid’s gaming for more than 3 hours.

Question when is the last time China did something innovative then created a market for it?

How many people in China die or are executed each year from expressing their opinion in an online forum?

Video games provide a way for open free speech to the next generation of the Chinese people what better way to control that speech then controlling and watching who can freely speak in a video game (especially with open chat like in WoW or GW). If the youth of a population can gain access to the outside world then it will be a threat to the establishment of a Communist Society. Freedom of any kind goes against Communist thought. As for Adults in China they are too busy working in awful conditions to be a worry or concern for the Government as it is.

Actually last time I was in China for my company checking up on products being made I was surprised to find that China systematically kills off their Artists, Poets, Creative, thinkers and Religious Scholars.

They breed workers and people who can mimic what others can re produce else ware. That information was not from a book or newspaper but from the owner's of the factories I had visited. That is why nothing original comes out of China anymore. The people there are bred to produce not be creative. I won't say what province I was in out of concern for their safety but you really need to wake up and take a serious look at the propaganda your eating for breakfast.

The real question is who are you really? And whom are you trying to fool with your inability to properly insult an American textbook? The same textbooks many in China try to gain access to so they can learn from a free society. The same textbooks the Chinese government burns and then kills people for reading. OH yes we are aware of that too.

Unlike the average Chinese we can discuss and speak freely about whatever we want and that leads to uncovering the crimes China’s own Government pulls on its people every day or the crimes of our own goverment (that are far less than China). You’re fooling no one here cyber cop propagandist.

http://web.amnesty.org/report2005/chn-summary-eng

Take a good look at the above link for reading on why so many want to leave China for America and read our textbooks.
